Look We Love: Black Marble in the Bathroom

There’s a lot to love above black marble: it’s beautiful, it’s elegant, it’s visually arresting. If you’re looking to add a little luxury, and a little drama, to your new bathroom, you’ll find plenty to inspire you in this collection of eight gorgeous bathrooms with black marble.

I love the black-on-black look of this bathroom from Vosges Paris — and the shelf which caps off the tile wall is an elegant and quite practical detail for a bathroom, a great way to keep toiletries you use every day within easy reach.

This bathroom by Hannah Crowell (via One Kings Lane on Instagram) features both black and white marble. Using tiles, instead of whole slab of marble, is a more economical choice, and the chevron pattern used here is particularly striking.

In this bathroom from Elle Decoration black marble tiles wrap up from the floor and onto the walls, providing a dramatic backdrop for the freestanding tub.

This black marble sink, spotted in an Australian home from Vogue Living, looks even more luxurious thanks to a touch of gold. Mixing metals (the gold and the copper faucet) is a bold move, but here it works.

In this bathroom by Workroom (via Home Adore) a black tub (paired with a black faucet) steals the show.

A vanity with a black marble top adds a touch of luxury to this classic bathroom from My Domaine.

All these other bathrooms work the black-and-white look, but this one, by Marta Piazza for WSJ. Magazine, via Habitually Chic, goes full bore, with a black marble sink and black marble on the floor and walls. It makes for a moody and particularly compelling space.

And finally there’s this bathroom from T Magazine. The black marble platform on which the tubs sits is certainly striking — but I think we can all agree that it’s the swan faucet that’s the real star of the show.
