First, there was the couple who hosted their wedding reception at In-N-Out Burger — then saying “I Do” at favorite fast food joints became a thing. Now, a bunch of Texas teens are thinking out of the box of standard backdrops for homecoming photos by hitting up a favorite big box store.
Megan Goulding and her classmates in Frisco, Texas decided to head to their local IKEA for a homecoming photo shoot, instead of the same-old tired gazebo-prom-stances, and the internet just can not.
“One of the boys [suggested] IKEA as a joke, but I was totally onboard with it from the beginning,” Megan told Yahoo. “We didn’t want to do traditional pictures, because we wanted to be different. Everyone just goes to a park and stands by some trees, but we didn’t want to do that this year.”
Goulding’s mom is a professional photographer, so she chaperoned the group of teens around the Swedish home superstore, snapping a bunch of casual, candid portraits while the high school seniors posed in various showrooms — kitchens, living rooms, even out in the parking lot with the iconic blue-and-yellow marquee in the background — as they went, then Megan shared them on Twitter.

The classy teenage crew looks so natural modeling the affordable Scandi style — an Orrsta golden yellow VIMLE sectional sofa and KVISTBRO storage table here, a GRUNDTAL kitchen cart and IKEA 365+ pitcher there — that we can’t help but echo Teen Vogue‘s suggestion that IKEA should totally throw in some dorm essentials for each of their new young ambassadors.
Or Yahoo’s suggestion that other teens looking to follow these #squadgoals — right down to Megan’s $33 beaded green dress from Amazon — should consider location scouting one of the new Homesense stores.
