The Best Halloween TV Episodes You Can Stream Right Now

The Halloween special comes but once a year, and sometimes not at all. Luckily, these annual delights are preserved forever in the amber that is Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon, or at least until they’ve shuffled off their streaming service coil.

Set the mood throughout October with one of the specials below. From creepy to funny to straight-up good, they’re the perfect, easy way to get your Halloween fix, revisit old favorites, or discover something strange and new.

The Addams Family (Hulu)

The the original* mysterious and spooky family celebrates the holiday, bank robbers try to interfere, and hijinks ensue. Gomez carves a mean pumpkin.

*No really, they beat The Munsters by six days.

Work parties are comedy gold, and the paper pushers from Scranton run with it again and again and again. “Halloween” is the most nostalgic, “Costume Contest” features Ryan as Justin Bieber, and Erin sparkles in “Spooked”.

Freaks and Geeks (Netflix)

Sam and the gang capture the mixed emotions fun of the last trick-or-treat before you age out. Although they drive the plot, the stellar show manages to encompass friends, siblings, and parents in a way that’s sweet and smart.

My So-Called Life (Hulu)

Jordan Catalano might be expelled. A ghostly student haunts the halls. Amidst drama supernatural and otherwise, Angela, Danielle, Rayanne, and Ricky don costumes that reveal something about who they really are.

It’s hard not to love how much The Conners loved Halloween — and each other. Starting in season 2 with “BOO!”, Roseanne and Dan try to freak each other out with horrors ridiculous (arm down the garbage disposal) and a little too real, setting up the series for a regular celebration.

Stranger Things 2 (Netflix)

This isn’t technically streaming right now, but it’s worth a white lie. The show that feels like the best 80s kids movies comes back October 27th with what appears to be the crew trick-or-treating. A Halloween special on Halloween weekend: for those that loved The Goonies as kids and Channel Zero now, it’s the best kind of double down. Catch the first season here.
