Two Minnesotans Escape the Snow in this Modern Glam L.A. Pad — Professional Project

Project by: Ashley Scott of Scouted Home
Location: Santa Monica, California

Ashley’s clients basically handed over a large blank canvas and she made a masterpiece. Blending of-the-moment looks like large floral wallpaper with classic vintage looks, she created a space that is heavy on visual impact but not overwhelming.

From Ashley: We recently completed this project for a couple who are new to L.A. The Minnesota natives spent a couple of months here last winter escaping the cold back home… and it didn’t take them long to decide they wanted to stay. Because the couple has kept their home in Minnesota, they moved into their three-story Santa Monica town home with nothing more than their adorable pup, Hugo, and a fancy set of luggage.

With a completely blank slate and tons of room to fill, we transformed their home into the modern, clean and elegant place of their dreams. The couple let us know right away that they weren’t afraid to go bold and wanted to make a statement. And GLAM was probably the most used key word in all of our discussions.

One of our biggest design challenges was the 16′ elevated platform in the living room. Our solution was to add a custom made cushion and loads of pillows to create a giant daybed- perfect for lounging.

To make a statement and add a giant punch of color, we installed floral wallpaper by Ellie Cashman. The wallpaper can be seen from the first floor (above the dining area) as well as in the second floor loft space and truly set the tone for the entire house. We added a gorgeous chandelier to the dining area by Arteriors. The dining chairs are Anthropolgie Elowen, detailed with velvet upholstery and gold accents. The oversized mirror mixed with the very modern console table is a spot we love and really shows off our use of blending styles. The pink sofa seen in the loft is from HD Buttercup.

For the guest room we wanted to create a boutique hotel vibe. The bed runner is one of our favorite pieces, from one of our favorite Etsy shops, Taftyli.

Thanks, Ashley and Scouted Home!
