This $90 Bedding Set Wants To End the Struggle With Fitted Sheets

Have you ever felt like the exercise of replacing the fitted sheet on your bed should be an Olympic sport? One innovative new company in New York feels your pain and wants to arm you with better equipment: a sheet set that’s more like a layered ski shell than your standard bedding.

Stretto is a new zip-on, zip-off fitted sheet design that envelopes your mattress more like a mattress cover — allowing you to just zip off the top part for cleaning and zip a fresh one back on. It even has a built-in side pocket for your phone, or a TV remote for those of you who binge race Netflix in bed. (Warren Miller marathon, anyone?)

Already funded on Kickstarter with 11 days left to go in its campaign, Stretto by Textrade is not only trying to completely change the way we make our beds but change the world through the impact of their manufacturing: the sets are made from sustainable materials (65% cotton, 35% modal blend derived from beech wood pulp) in a fair trade factory in India that runs on solar power.

The “wrinkle-free” sheet sets currently come in 10 options for color combinations, and are set to deliver to Kickstarter campaign backers sometime in late February or early March 2018. Early Bird Stretto Bundles, including one “base sheet” (enveloping your mattress bottom and four sides) plus two “zip-on sheets” (covering your mattress top via seamless hidden zipper) and two pillow cases, start at $90 for a Twin/Twin XL up to $115 for a King/California King size set. If you’re really sold on the idea, invest $500 for five full bed sets to save $75 off the already reduced early bird rates for Kickstarter campaign backers.

The latest in the “zippered sheets” trend, Stretto joins similar brands such as QuickZip and Soulria in the quest to change the way we make our beds forever.

Let’s just hope this category doesn’t get nearly as crowded as online mattresses themselves.
