The Palace Just Released Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s Official Engagement Photos

I’m the kind of person who scrolls past people’s wedding photos and baby announcements with no shame (nobody cares that you’re expecting a new Giants fan in June, Karen). But like many people around the world, I am caught up in the romance of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the American who is basically fulfilling all our collective and cliché childhood dreams of marrying a dashing, handsome royal. I have tried not to be invested. But today, the palace just released a pair of gorgeous official engagement photos, and I may have actually swooned.

According to Kensington Palace’s Instagram, both newly released photos were taken at Frogmore House, a 17th century country estate that’s half a mile south of Windsor Castle. No one officially lives there, but the royal family use the property for both official and private events.

The portraits were taken by fashion photographer Alexi Lubomirski, who has shot A-listers like Beyoncé, Charlize Theron, Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lopez, Selma Hayek, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman and Scarlett Johansson.

In the color photo, Meghan wears a Ralph & Russo A/W 2016/2017 gown with a silk organza skirt, hand appliquéd with silk tulle ruffles and embroidered with gold feather thread-work. They look stunning.

This is the one that kills me, though. How sweet and charming it is, and how in love they look. It warms the cockles of my cold, dead heart, much like Harry’s coat is warming Meghan (it’s Burberry, if you’re wondering).
