Ellen Pompeo Lists Her Renovated “Modern Barn” in the Hamptons For $3.8M

Celebrity house-flipper and TV doctor Ellen Pompeo of Grey’s Anatomy fame is at it again — this time, listing her newly renovated “modern farmhouse” in the Hamptons, five years after moving in.

After purchasing the 8.3-acre Sag Harbor property and original cottage in 2011, Pompeo — now known for her impeccable taste in design and for her ever-increasing track record for flipping real estate as much as for her acting — tore down the cottage and made quick work of gut-renovating a cabin hand-built by the previous owner into a “modern farmhouse” that to looks (to even the trained observer) like it’s always been that way.

The dreamy, luxurious retreat features 2,400 square feet of ultimate beach house goals — from the swing chair in the screened (and fireplace-d) porch overlooking the very private (and heated!) pool set into mature landscaping to the four bedrooms and four bathrooms brilliantly separated into a 2/2 “family guest wing” and an upstairs 2/2 off the office. The main living areas are meticulously designed for casual, elegant entertaining, with calming neutral tones, a classic color palette, and organic materials like sustainable woods and stone.

As Pompeo’s business partner Bridgette Romanek told Architectural Digest about the property last year:

“It was clear to us it needed to be easy, breezy, light, comfortable, and beautiful, with not a lot of pieces, but every piece needed to say something. Nothing is too precious. When you walk, in you can sit on the furniture. You can spill things. You can be wet. But it’s still really beautiful.”

Giving the ever-popular Joanna Gaines a run for her money as a fixer-upper guru, Pompeo also recently flipped and sold a Harry Greene-designed midcentury modern home in the Hollywood Hills.
