A Ceramicist’s Scandinavian Rustic Montreal Loft — House Tour

Name: Trudy Crane
Location: Old Montreal
Size: 1250 square feet
Years Lived In: 2 years, renting

After working as an executive in the fashion industry for many years, Trudy decided to pursue her dream and switched to a career as a ceramicist. Inspired by nature and the many shades of white, she creates beautiful and organic ceramics under the name of Looks Like White. Trudy also co-founded the brand Meadow and Land and recently published a vegan lifestyle/cookbook called: Saisons: La table végane. And her bright, all-white apartment is a haven of peace where anyone can feel instantly relaxed.

The historic 1875 building where Trudy’s apartment is located in is in the heart of Old Montreal. The building, formerly a rooming house, has been recently modernized but maintains many original features such as the floors, moldings and brick walls. The long hallway in the apartment divides the apartment with two rooms on either side; the kitchen and living room space are on one side of the hallway with the two bedrooms on the other side. The small bathroom is located at the end of the hall.

Trudy’s signature style is a mix of Scandinavian and rustic with many of shades of white and antique furniture. The main elements that stand out are the large windows in every room that let in natural light at any time of the day, unlike the majority of Montreal apartments. It’s one of the reasons why she fell in love with the apartment. The open space combining the living room, kitchen and dining room makes her apartment ideal for hosting dinners. It sure feels cozy and peaceful at any time of the year, but especially during the cold winter months.
