This Week’s Fixer Upper Was a First: Chip & Jo Made Over an Apartment

We’re used to seeing Chip and Joanna Gaines tackle country homes in the rolling hills of Waco, TX, but the dynamic duo is finally taking on an apartment.

On Fixer Upper this week, the couple teamed up to renovate an apartment for Catherine Ballas, a friend of theirs who owns Refit Revolution, a popular fitness studio in Waco. Southern Living tipped us off to the beautiful downtown loft:

The beautiful space features a spacious kitchen with a moveable metal island, so Ballas can move it around to accommodate her busy lifestyle. It’s got plenty of storage underneath, ideal for apartment living. The living room is filled with natural light that streams in via the spacious windows, complemented by industrial light fixtures and the addition of lighter wood flooring. A stylish fireplace creates a cozy, welcoming atmosphere in the mini mudroom, surrounded by a wood paneled feature wall with a built-in bench and storage hooks.

Like the living area, the bedroom features wood paneling with built-in nightstands, perfect as a picture ledge or as storage. The luxe master bath is a bright, white space featuring a floating waterfall island with black finishes and exposed filament-bulb fixtures. It’s the perfect mix of minimalistic style and function Ballas needs for apartment living.

“Last night’s loft apartment was a first for us on #fixerupper and it was such a fun project to be a part of!” Joanna wrote on Twitter. “In a space like this, I could get used to loft living…#exceptforalltheanimals”.
