The Mister Rogers Stamp is Now Available

Whether you’re begrudgingly committed to still using snail mail or consider yourself an avid stamp collector, here’s a reason to skedaddle down to your local post office ASAP: The United States Postal Service recently released a Mister Rogers postage stamp in honor of TV’s most lovable neighbor.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, and the stamp is only one of many gestures performed by KERA and the Fred Rogers Company to commemorate the classic series.

The unveiling of the stamp took place on March 23 during a special dedication ceremony held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, 50 years to the day of the series’ premiere. Among the attendees were Rogers’ widow Joanne, who told ABC News her initial reaction to the stamp was “love at first sight.”

Paul Siefken, president and CEO of the Fred Rogers Company shared a compassionate message about the celebrated actor, saying, “Fred Rogers left an indelible mark on generations of young audiences through his groundbreaking series, and his timeless wisdom and important messages of inclusion and neighborliness remain just as relevant today as they were 50 years ago.”

Postmaster General Megan Brennan echoed those sentiments, adding that Rogers’ lessons on forgiveness, kindness, patience and tolerance helped to make “the ups and downs of life easier to understand for the youngest members of our society.”

The USPS also offers additional Mr. Rogers memorabilia, including a Mister Rogers Digital Postmark, a Mister Rogers First Day Cover and a framed photograph.
