6 Instagram Book Clubs To Help Fill Your Summer Reading List

Need help deciding what to read next? These Instagram-led book clubs will pick the book for you, and offer opportunities to discuss it with fellow online bibliophiles. Some groups even have in-person meet-ups in cities across the country where you can share your thoughts or listen to the author speak live. If you’re a big reader, you may want to “join” a few of these clubs, whose June selections are a mix of recent releases and older bestsellers.

Book and Wine Club

This online club combines two of my favorite activities: reading and drinking wine. Each month, the admins select a new book and coordinates in-person meetings in New York City, Los Angeles, and Toronto. Not nearby? No problem. They also offer the perfect pairing for their book of the month, which you can enjoy from the comfort of your couch.

June book: The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin

Reese’s Book Club x Hello Sunshine

We can’t do a roundup of Insta book clubs without including one of our favorite celebrity bookworms, Reese Witherspoon. She has a tendency to turn her favorite reads into shows or movies, so you’ll want to add all of her picks to your TBR list.

June book: Something In The Water by Catherine Steadman

Well Read Black Girl

Glory Edim dedicates her community to “the phenomenal Black women on our bookshelves,” and past reads have included bestsellers like An American Marriage and Halsey Street. While this month’s book has yet to be announced, if you follow this account you’ll be alerted to monthly picks, book recommendations, and opportunities for live meet-ups or online chats with influential authors. Edim’s community has been so influential, she’s publishing a Well-Read Black Girl anthology later this year.

June book: TBD

Poppy Love’s Book Club

This book club offers multiple opportunities to engage online—with their monthly newsletter, their Facebook group, or their Instagram. Join more than 3,000 members in discussing the latest pick (this month’s is a brand-new sci-fi adventure) and keep an eye out for opportunities to win signed copies and other bookworm swag.

June book: From Darkest Skies by Sam Peters

Girls’ Night In Club

This community celebrates staying in on the weekends and engaging in lots of self-care—and of course, that includes reading. Subscribe to their Friday newsletter to be alerted when their next book is selected and find out if any of the discussions or readings are happening at a bookstore near you!

June book: Ensemble by Aja Gabel

Rad Women Book Club

Based in LA, this club specifically celebrates books written by women. They always support and gather at a local library with their monthly meetings, but also have a Facebook group and monthly newsletter where members all over the country can discuss the book, plus, they offer lots of recommendations throughout the month for other reads by talented women.
