IKEA Responds To Rowdy World Cup Fans Celebrating In a U.K. Store In The Classiest Way Possible

If you like IKEA, then you already know the company is pretty great. They have been awarded for having Vegan-friendly products. Their store is full of affordable and functional pieces that will work in any home. Plus, there is an incredible food selection in the food court and after checkout at the store.

Once again, IKEA has gone on to prove that they’re excellent and class acts. If you’ve been keeping up with the World Cup (we won’t blame if you’ve been too busy sipping rosé to care), then you know that England recently beat Sweden 2-0 in the quarter-finals match. It is the first time England has made it to the semi-finals in the World Cup in 28 years (they last went to the semi-finals in 1990 but lost to West Germany).

If you know sports fans, they can often get a little rowdy after a win. Just a few months ago Philadelphia Eagles fans destroyed an awning on a Macy’s in center city Philly after the team won the Super Bowl. Even if their team wins, people can’t help but get a bit out of control.

This happened after the England win. Some fans felt the way they wanted to celebrate was to show off at a local IKEA in west London. They weren’t at IKEA to get some frozen yogurt or Swedish meatballs however. Instead, they got rowdy. The soccer fans jumped on furniture and chanted around the store.

While they weren’t exactly trashing the place by breaking furniture, most have criticized the fans for being too overzealous and showing their excitement in the wrong place. However, IKEA had the classiest response.

IKEA even went on to offer England fans a food special to celebrate their team’s win, just to show that there are no hard feelings.

What do you think of IKEA’s response? They definitely took the high road here!
