This Hairdresser’s Home Is a Playground of Patterns — House Call

Name: Erin Love, husband, two daughters, and two dogs
Location: Russiaville, Indiana
Size: 2,300 square feet
Years lived in: 2 years, owned

Our home is set back on a semi-wooded lot in the country. I would describe it as a cozy cottage. It was built in 1977 and has so many cool “older” quirks that won me over instantly. I am drawn to earth-toned colors and pretty textures and patterns. I keep the main palette black and white so I can add all of the pops of color I want… because I love color!!

This is our living room. We painted our fireplace stone white and the wood beams along the windows black. It was tan and rusty before and is crisp and clean now!

I am a hairdresser, mother of two little gals, wife, artist, and wannabe interior designer. When I’m not doing all the hairs or mothering, I am changing my house in some way or another. My husband is Ross. He’s handsome, smart, hardworking, and can build me a table on demand. So that’s big. I have two daughters. Vivie is spunky, independent, smart as a whip, loving and trying all at the same time. She is 3. Sawyer is joyous, happy, sassy, full of life and the cutest little tow-head you ever did see. She’s 1!

My husband built the shelves on the wall and also our dining room table.

I added this rug recently to our living area. It was the bold touch it needed!

What is your favorite room and why? Our living room was blessed with ginormous floor-to-ceiling windows surrounding our vaulted stone fireplace. It faces the wooded setting that our house sits on. The view is gorgeous and feels at time like we are on vacation! The way the sun filters in at certain times of the day is pure perfection.

What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? A bright, bold, and beautiful boho rug from Amazon!

My kitchen isn’t my dream…but it is full of charm and undeniable character!

We painted our cabinets gray and added the subway tile backsplash.

Any advice for creating a home you love? Don’t worry about trends and fads. If you love it, use it. If you love a trend, use it. If you love something “out of style,” use it!

This is our playroom. I hand painted the flower mural. I hope my girls will love it when they are older!

Do what reflects your personality and don’t be afraid to make bold decisions. Everything can be changed and chances are you will love t!

This is our kids bathroom. I stenciled the floors and painted the vanity green.
