Just ten miles south of his historic Graceland mansion, Elvis’ honeymoon hideout at the Circle G Ranch was a respite from super stardom. The 60s mobile home on the property was a serene getaway for “The King of Rock and Roll,” even if it was a modest trailer. It’s the magic that Elvis and Pricilla Presley brought to it that turned it into the treasure it is now—a treasure that just sold at GWS Auctions for $67,650.
The mobile home, which was taken off the Mississippi ranch land and brought to California for the auction, was purchased by Elvis in the 1960s. It served as the honeymoon location for the newlywed Presleys, as well as the go-to hangout for Elvis and his “Memphis Mafia.”
Max Wiggins, the winning bidder, reportedly plans to take the home from the Los Angeles auction house to its Mississippi home— “where it all started.” The two-bedroom trailer is an incredible piece of Elvis memorabilia, which Wiggins said he “would have paid any price for it because it belonged to Elvis.” Once returned to Mississippi, he also hinted that he could refurbish it slightly and put it up for rent for other fans to come and enjoy. (So, keep refreshing that Airbnb page.)
The Delta manufactured home is 60 feet long and 12 feet across. It resembles much of the contemporary style of the 60s, with patterned cabinets, a small, four-burner stove, and red walls in the bathroom. In typical Elvis fashion though, the sink and bathtub are a solid gold color.
