10 Things That Say Home To Jo Malone

Even if you don’t know who Jo Malone is, you are certainly familiar with her name. The entrepreneur’s first brand, Jo Malone London, has made her a household name–and her candles and perfumes a household smell. (We couldn’t resist.) Malone would eventually sell the brand to Estée Lauder, and stayed on as creative director until 2006. Her second brand, Jo Loves, launched in 2011, and is full of scents that are both classic and unexpected.

But before creating two eponymous brands, Malone got her start mixing scents in her own kitchen. Since then, her name (and creations) have become part of countless people’s spaces. We asked her to share the things that make her own home feel special.

10 Things That Say ‘Home’: The people might be what really makes a house a home, but great stuff can help too. We’re asking some of our favorite people what 10 things make their space feel like their own.

A bestseller from the Jo Loves brand, this candle is also “the scent of our home for all my family,” says Malone.

Not surprisingly, Malone tells us “I adore candlelight and my favorite are Moroccan storm lanterns.”

“To me, fresh, crisp linen with lots of pillows is just heavenly.”

Malone describes her blender as one of the things she’d take to a desert island. It’s currently getting plenty of use at her home in London. “I love fresh, healthy juices every day.”

“I love this store and adore the theatre and drama of dinner using beautiful mosaic plates on the dinner table.”

“Among my favorite things is an aperitif before dinner,” says Malone. She pairs her favorite drink (ice cold rosé) with this attractive decanter and wine glass set.

“They are everywhere in my house. I also travel with them and pour out all of my creative thought processes so I don’t forget.”

“They’re so wonderful in a completely white house [like Malone’s]. They also looked beautiful being served as chargers on the dining table.”

“They make a room look bigger and bring natural light in.”

My favorite drink every morning and afternoon–I like what we call ‘builders tea,’ and love it strong.”
