Pets: They can make our homes feel complete, but they can also make our homes feel full of hair. While battling shedding may be a task worthy of Sisyphus, there are tools that make that endless chore a bit more bearable. (See: The guide to our favorite pet hair vacuums.) One of our favorite upright models was the Dyson Ball Animal. And while the most recent model retails new for $459, you can get a certified refurbished model on Amazon today for $200.
This particular model is certified refurbished by Dyson, and is meant to show little, if any, wear. You are also guaranteed to get all accessories and a limited six-month warranty covering manufacturer defects. While Dyson is done developing corded models, you may find that the hassle of the cord is worth it to not worry about charge time. Additionally, the upright models are a lot cheaper than the stick models, especially the ones designed for pet hair. Getting the certified refurbished one makes it even less expensive.
So what does a $200 Dyson vac get you? Many of our favorite bells and whistles of the Animal 2 are included in the original model. The ball design is meant to give it better maneuverability than traditional uprights. The head is also self-adjusting, meaning you can go from carpet to hardwood to tile and back again with ease. You can also use the wand attachments to clean up high or in crevices that the regular vacuum won’t go. And any Dyson, whether it’s an older upright model or the most recent stick with all the bells and whistles, is still an industry leader.
Included accessories great for pet hair include a turbine for getting fur off upholstery and carpet. It’s also designed to prevent pet hair from choking the filter. A stair tool also includes velour for grabbing up hair, and is also designed to prevent hair from getting caught up in the suction. The entire machine is certified asthma and allergy friendly because of its HEPA filtration. And even if you don’t have pets, this refurbished Dyson vac is still a great deal for homes that require a lot of cleaning. If you do have pets, however, you can feel free to make a re-FUR-bished joke every time you use it.
