Welcome to Design Spotting. We’re on a mission to find and tour the coolest spaces and places out there. Whether it’s a high-tech office space or a highly-anticipated art pop-up, we believe design inspiration is everywhere.
You know Etsy as the online marketplace to get the most unique (and sometimes handmade!) decor, gifts, clothing, jewelry, artwork, and vintage finds from craftspeople and vendors all over the world. So you’d expect the company’s headquarters to have that same curated, crafty feel. And guess what? You’re not wrong!
We got the chance to tour Etsy HQ in Dumbo, Brooklyn, with Dayna Isom Johnson, the company’s trend expert and host of NBC’s “Making It” as our guide. In the offices, it’s all about the details, from a wall in the entrance that’s covered with employee-made looms, to living walls that are maintained with rainwater from the building’s roof. And of course, it wouldn’t be Etsy without a space to create. The Etsy Labs give employees a chance to take some time out of their work day to craft and make screenprinting and 3D-printing projects.
Watch the video above and let us know what you think of the office space in the comments.
