Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there: We live in a 1929 Tudor-style in the heart of Tulsa. Our home was first owned by a widow named Olive and her two adult daughters. They lived here until the 1970s. After that point the house had a few owners until we bought it this past summer. The house boasts a double chimney and original oak floors.
Although the kitchen has been fully renovated, the overall original style of the house remains, including original crown molding, plaster walls, and some knob and tube wiring. The attic was at some point converted into a livable space and we are currently working on restoring the original attic staircase. We love living in a home with such a rich history and hope that we can keep improving our home while staying true to its past.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less: Mixed style, modern, simplistic, historic
What is your favorite room and why? My favorite room is the living room with its unique fireplace and original front door.
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home? The last thing we’ve bought for our home was lumber to build an armoire and mantel.
Any advice for creating a home you love? Take your time and figure out what you like and what you want out of your home. I have a tendency to rush into decision making and I’ve learned that slowing down and being intentional about decisions and purchases creates a space we want to be in.
